Turn your website or web app into an Android APK

By the Craftable team27 October 20262 min read

Sometimes a link isn’t enough — you want an icon on the home screen that opens straight into your app. Craftable can export your project as an installable Android APK, without Android Studio or any setup.

How to export the APK

  1. Build or open your project in Craftable.
  2. Open the project’s download menu.
  3. Tap 📱 Download APK — or APK with custom icon to use your own logo as the app icon.
  4. Open the file on your Android phone to install it. Android asks you to allow installs from this source the first time.

What works inside the APK

The APK wraps your web app, so the same HTML, CSS and JavaScript run inside it. Features like camera, mic and location ask for permission the normal way. Apps that use login, a database or Craftable Brain talk to Craftable online, so they need internet.

APK, link or home-screen app?

  • Public link: best for sharing widely — nothing to install.
  • Add to Home Screen: open the published link in Chrome and add it to your home screen.
  • APK: best when you want to hand someone an app file, test on devices, or share in a group.

Tips

  • Ask the AI to make the layout “app-like”: bottom navigation, big tap targets, no hover-only menus.
  • Test in the phone preview first, then on a real phone.
  • When you change the app, export a new APK.
